Baroque and Rococo:
Baroque refers to a 17th century art form that originated in Italy. It features intricate and ornate beauty and very fine details. Baroque art is often dramatic and rich in emotion (Encyclopedia Britannica Online). Rococo is more marked by delicacy, whereas baroque is marked by richness. Pierre Lepautre was thought to be one of the introductory Rococo artists, as he incorporated the style in his architecture, while Jean-Antoine Watteau’s paintings helped to introduce the style also. The word “Rococo” was derived from the French word for “rock-work”, “rocaille”. The style is rather like an opposite to gothic, for it is light in nature.(Rococo Style)
